3. Categories of Cookies We Use

3.1 Technically Required Cookies
Cookies that are technically required enable the Website's basic functionality and usability. Among other things, these cookies ensure smooth navigation on the Website. Cookies store, for instance, the language you have selected or the contents of your shopping cart.

3.2 Analytics Cookies
Cookies for analysis and advertising purposes allow statistics about Website visitors to be collected, such as the number of visitors to different areas of the Website, frequency of visits, or user behavior and habits. We use this information to understand Website usage and improve performance and content.

3.3 Marketing Cookies (Currently Inactive)

We do not currently use advertising or targeting cookies on our Website. If this changes, we will update this Policy and implement applicable consent and/or opt-out mechanisms before or when those technologies are activated.

3.4 Partner Cookies
Our Website may integrate the services of third-party providers, such as Stripe for payment processing; such services are rendered by the providers acting on their own discretion. When you visit our Website, data is collected using cookies or similar technologies and transmitted to the respective third party. Third-party providers are responsible for the use of data beyond our processing and done without our active participation.

4.1 Google Analytics 4
We use Google Analytics 4, operated by Google LLC, to understand how visitors use the Website. Google may process information collected through Google Analytics in accordance with the applicable Google terms, configuration, and contractual relationship. We have enabled IP anonymization in our GA4 configuration. We configure Google Analytics to limit data sharing and advertising-related use as described in our Google Analytics account settings and applicable Google terms. 4.2 Stripe
We use Stripe to process payments for our Website and to support payment transactions and related security and functionality. Stripe may process personal data and may use cookies or similar technologies depending on how Stripe payment services are implemented on the Website. The specific Stripe cookies or similar technologies, if any, will be identified in the Cookie Inventory after verification of the production payment flow. Payment processing practices are also described in our Privacy Policy.

4.3 No Active Third-Party Ad Networks
We do not currently use third-party advertising or remarketing networks on the Website. If this changes, we will update this Policy and implement the applicable consent and/or opt-out mechanisms required by law and our privacy practices.

 

5. Consent Mechanism — Cookie Banner

When you first visit the Website, a cookie banner is displayed before non-essential cookies are placed. You may allow or deny non-essential cookies using the options presented in the banner. Essential cookies may operate without consent where they are strictly necessary. Under our current configuration, analytics cookies are not loaded until you accept them.

Your cookie preference may be stored in a preference cookie for the period configured in the Webite’s consent-management tool. The banner may reappear when consent expires or where renewal is appropriate under our cookie-management practices or applicable law.

 

6. Managing and Withdrawing Consent

You may review or change your cookie preferences using the Website’s Cookie Preferences or consent-management interface, where available. You may also delete or block cookies through your browser settings. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing that occurred before withdrawal. Deleting essential cookies may impair Website functionality.

 

7. Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Data — Opt-Out Rights

Under applicable law, you may have the right to opt out of processing for targeted advertising, sale of personal data, or qualifying profiling, Pursuant to Virginia Code § 59.1-577(A)(5) of the VCDPA, Virginia residents have the right to opt out of the processing of their personal data for targeted advertising or the sale of personal data; and, where applicable, profiling in furtherance of decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects concerning a consumer. These statutory opt-out rights are distinct from our voluntary cookie-preference mechanism for analytics cookies.

We will process requests within 45 days of receipt, and if we require an extension, we will notify you within the initial 45-day period and complete processing within 90 days total, or within the periods required by applicable law.

Because we do not currently use advertising cookies or sell personal data collected through cookies, the practical effect of a cookie opt-out is currently limited primarily to analytics cookies.

 

8. Global Privacy Control (GPC)

The Website does not currently use advertising or targeting cookies. If our practices change, we will reassess our handling of Global Privacy Control signals and other legally recognized opt-out preference signals as applicable law and technical standards develop. Nothing in this section limits any statutory opt-out right otherwise available to a consumer.

 

9. Data Retention

Session cookies are deleted when the browser session ends. Persistent cookies are retained for the period configured for their stated purpose unless you delete them earlier. Analytics data retention is governed by our Google Analytics configuration. GA4 data retention period: up to 14 months. Retention periods are set to the minimum reasonably necessary for the stated purpose, subject to applicable law and technical requirements.

 

10. Children's Privacy

The Website is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data online from children under 13 through cookies or other means without obtaining parental consent where required by applicable law. If we learn that we have collected such information in circumstances requiring consent and consent was not obtained, we will take reasonable steps to delete it as required by law (15 U.S.C. § 6501 (COPPA)). 11. Your Consumer Rights Under the VCDPA

If you are a Virginia resident and the VCDPA applies, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, and obtain a portable copy of personal data, and to opt out of targeted advertising, sale of personal data, or qualifying profiling. To submit a request or appeal, email privacy@athlimasport.org. We will respond within the periods required by applicable law.

If we deny your request, you may appeal by emailing privacy@athlimasport.org with the subject line “Privacy Rights Appeal” within 30 days of receiving our denial. We will respond to your appeal within 60 days. If your appeal is denied, you may submit a complaint to the Virginia Attorney General at https://www.oag.state.va.us.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.

 

12. Changes to This Cookie Policy

We may alter this Cookie Policy from time to time. Updated versions will be posted on the Website with a revised effective date. Any such changes will become binding on you on your first use of our Website after the changes have been made. You are therefore advised to check this page from time to time. In the event of any conflict between the current version of this Cookie Policy and any previous version(s), the provisions current and in effect shall prevail unless it is expressly stated otherwise. Where required by applicable law, we will obtain renewed consent for non-essential cookies or provide additional notice of material changes.
